Jim Hughes brings 20+ years of public relations and corporate communications experience gained from agency, in-house and consulting roles to his clients. Specializing in B2B, trade and B2C programs, Jim is passionate about disruptive solutions in the digital health, medical device and tech sectors.

Jim has helped companies raise mindshare for their products, firms and initiatives. His strengths include strategic planning, message development, hands-on media and analyst relations, thought leadership programs, writing and trade show support.

Highly versatile, Jim has provided strategic counsel and national, trade and targeted regional outreach for medtech clients surrounding trials, approvals, studies and commercialization of bio-engineered implants for ACL and rotator cuffs, as well as artificial menisci (orthopedics), novel devices for vascular thrombectomy and peripheral embolization (pulmonary and neurology), and support of prostate and men’s health issues (urology). On the tech front, Jim has provided thought leadership and awareness surrounding milestones, innovational success and awards for multiple XPRIZE challenges (Qualcomm Tricorder, NRG COSIA Carbon, Shell Ocean Discovery and IBM Artificial Intelligence prizes) and has supported clients with next-gen solutions in telecom, enterprise networking, broadcast, AI video production and smart home devices. He’s garnered top tier B2C and B2B coverage for an Internet of Things device that successfully fueled Kickstarter efforts, fully subscribing the campaign within 12 hours and ultimately oversubscribing by 5x.

Previously, Jim was vice president in the Convergence Group at Rogers & Cowan. Seen as the go-to resource on the business and technology media front for the agency’s clients, Jim successfully launched 59 products/initiatives for 25 clients over a three-year period (products, apps and online services for industry names and fast-moving startups).

Prior to Rogers & Cowan, Jim was a vice president in the technology practice at Fleishman Hillard’s Los Angeles office, where he oversaw a mix of clients that included tape storage leader The LTO Program (a consortium consisting of IBM, HP and Quantum), chipmaker Marvell Electronics, Cigna, REIT Ridge Property Trust and VFX firm Digital Domain. Jim also worked with Porter Novelli’s Convergence Group and The Bohle Company in senior account roles representing a variety of Fortune 500 and start up technology firms including IBM and Microsoft.

Jim lives in the Los Angeles area, enjoying life with his family, three cats and a rambunctious desert tortoise.
